Access Fund work in Massachusetts
- Facilitated coalition building and research regarding short-term loans to ensure funding at the closing date for the Western Massachusetts Climbers Coalition purchase parking lot and access trail to Farley Ledge. (2007)
- Met with members of the Western Massachusetts Climbers Coalition, toured climbing areas, discussed access and conservation issues and solutions (2005)
- Met with Congressman Olver and discussed the Access Fund's work, the work of the local Affiliate, the Western Massachusetts Climbers Coalition, and ways in which the Access Fund work is impacted by decisions in Congress (2005)
- Farley Ledge, MA. Awarded a $2,000 grant to the Western Massachusetts Climbers Coalition to conduct a natural resource survey of the Farley Ledge climbing area. The information gathered will be used to develop a climbing management plan. (2003)
- Provided $12,000 in grants for trail and impact mitigation projects in four areas including Quincy Quarries, MA. (2002)
- The Access Fund and W.L. Gore present the Adopt-a-Crag Stewardship Award to Scott Sandberg and the Quincy Quarries volunteers for displaying a high level of activism and an overwhelming sense of community. Nearly 200 climbers and members of the Metropolitan District Commission attended the Quincy Quarries Adopt-a-Crag Day event. A banner example of stewardship and community-mindedness, the Quincy volunteers completed eight specific projects, including: site cleanup and landscaping, visual impact mitigation, trail building and restoration, and trail sign installation.
